21 in Review

21 was an awesome age. I can't even believe what a crazy year I've had, probably the best year of my life thus far.

This year:
I had an amazing birthday party with my closest friends, which included my first visit to Town Danceboutique and being called onstage in the middle of a Drag Show
Attended a Hospice Volunteer National  Conference, began seeing my first hospice patients

 Continued doing immunology research under  the best lab mentor ever

 Served as the AMSA Virginia Tech's Chapter  President

Studied for the MCAT at the beach and went
running every morning there

Spent a weekend at Claytor Lake
with Ryan and his friends




























Ran my first 5k (without stopping!) - Color Me Rad in Blacksburg
























     
   
 












Dressed up as the Queen of Hearts for Halloween with Ryan as the Mad Hatter. Then celebrated Halloween both at Virginia Tech and with Joy and Vince at JMU


Thanksgiving with the Corner! 





Went to a 6 hour Armin Van Buuren Concert in
D.C. on a Thursday night...and danced for 5 of them




Went on a 3 day weekend trip to NYC
for funsies...right before Finals Week




























Wore a Sari for Diwali


Cut my hair shorter than it has been since I was in elementary school 
(and made it darker) 



Did so much fun stuff with the Corner over Winter Break - Jordan's Christmas Party, Smores at Cozi, Ugly Sweater Party, New Year's Eve











Traveled abroad on a tropical resort vacation to CANCUN - swimming, snorkling, Xcaret adventures, and seeing Chichen Itza





 Went to a life changing Medical Humanities  Institute where I made amazing connections with  medical students and wrote and read an illness  narrative that I later incorporated into my  personal statement for Medical School  applications - Met Rita Charon , Attended the  AMSA National Conference in D.C. and Got    selected for a National AMSA position -      Coordinator of the Humanities Institute



Worked on the Gough Scholarship Selection
Committee and went out to lunch with the Goughs 

Became a U.S. Citizen!
Ran my second 5k - 3.2 for 32 Run


Passed on my duties as AMSA VT Chapter officer 












Attended a Alice in Wonderland themed
Masquerade Ball with Hillcrest





















































Received the great honor of being chosen as the Virginia Tech Undergraduate Woman of the Year




Went to my first bonfire at the River with new friends from this school year













Did some artwork throughout the year








Went to Nina's Graduation Party in Norfolk















Attended the first Corner girl's Bridal Shower (and took pictures!)










Hung out with the Corner in D.C.


Submitted my primary AMCAS application to start applying to medical schools


Started shadowing my favorite physician, an orthopedic surgeon







Went on a mini road trip to Norfolk to visit Peterkin and played non stop hot seat

Took up tennis with my parents and frequently started to go on cycling trips with them

Started training for a Half-Marathon










Spent my first 4th of July with Corner people







Initiated Corner Sports!

First Girls Night!
Rocked my "work for it dress"




























Went to a Fun. Concert on t
he lawn for my first time













Went to Colorado! Hiked, took pictures, climbed things


















What an amazing year. This entire year has been full of accomplishments, adventures, activeness, and friendships. I am so thankful for every single opportunity that I've had and for all of the support I have gotten from all of my new and old friends.

(I may never do a post like this again - it took me two days only to organize the photos like this because Blogger is just not easy to use for photo placement)
